Villanova's Plan After Missing Out on Hunter Dickinson

Villanova missed out on prized Michigan transfer Hunter Dickinson on Thursday, as lightning struck in Lawrence, Kansas at about 10:20 am eastern time landing the 7-2 big man. While Villanova didn’t land the No.1 overall 2023 transfer and maybe even the best transfer of all time, they did show that the future on the mainline is bright.

Being a finalist for the best player available showed the college basketball world that even after a down year finishing 17-17, Villanova is here to stay under the new staff.

Since the commitment of Dickinson Villanova has expressed interest in the following players

2023 four-star C Papa Kante

NDSU transfer Grant Nelson

FSU 7’4 transfer Naheem McLeod

Kansas transfer Zuby Ejiofor

It’s clear that Kyle Neptune and company are not slowing down and committed to adding another big man.

As of May 7th, here is how the roster looks:

PG: Justin Moore, Mark Armstrong

SG: TJ Bamba, Brendan Hausen, Chris Archidiacono

SF: Hakim Hart, Jordan Longino, Trey Patterson, Jordann Dumont

PF/C: Eric Dixon, Nnanna Njoku

I would expect Villanova to add a forward, and maybe 1 other player as they currently have 2 open scholarships. Look for Villanova to keep being active in the portal as well as the 2024 recruiting class. Villanova recently made the final 4 for 2024 four-star center Thomas Sorber and they have had a handful of 2024’s in for visits. Go ‘Cats!
